In addition, the study also looks at the roles that the instructor and the tudents take on in building an online collaborative learning community. Qualitative data are collected from the analysis of the students’ textual interactions and interviews conducted with the students. Initial findings of the pilot study show that there is substantial evidence of collaborative learning behaviours present. These ranges of behaviours are usually associated with the face-to-face collaborative learning environment. Therefore, the analysis of the pilot study shows that it is quite possible for a collaborative learning community to exist through an asynchronous networked learning. The study also shows that the students and instructor take on diversified roles, which help to create a conducive and effective online community. Findings also illustrate that the students play a more significant role in ensuring the development of a collaborative learning community. | Item Type: | Journal |
