Abstract

The electrifying pace of growth of the Internet has enefited many sectors including the educational field. According to Maddux et al. (1997), the capability of the Internet as an educational tool is only limited by the imagination and creativity of teachers and learners. Though it has been in existence since the 1960s, the worldwide overwhelming response towards the Internet only really takes off after the introduction of the World Wide Web. However, Trochim (1996) asserts that considering the importance and the resources that are being committed to implementing it,it is surprising that there has been little effort to evaluate website, especially ESL-related websites. This paper describes the opinion of a group of ESL teachers regarding a Malaysian-based ESL website developed by the first author. A total of 45 teacher trainees specialising in TESL at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia responded to a self-report questionnaire consisting of 29 Likert scale items (1=Strongly Agree, 2=Agree, 3=Disagree and 4=Strongly Disagree). A descriptive statistic using frequency count and mean score is used in data analysis. The results show that as a whole, the respondents indicated very positive reaction towards the user friendliness, interactivity, attractiveness, usefulness and suitability of the ESL website as a tool for enhancing ESL learning.
