Abstract

Over this recent year, Malaysians have been generating wastes at an alarming rate, for instance, compact discs.
This has shortened the lifespan times of landfills and disposal sites and caused the extinction of natural resources. Nowadays, compact discs became needed for certain purpose, such as manufacturing more than required for a specific product or purpose, the increase of thumb drives’ demands and so on. It can be noticed that amongst 291 landfill sites all over the country, left only 179 still operating. In order to increase the awareness of publics toward the importance of recycling to preserve the future, a Merit-Demerit Compact DiscRecycling System which comprises Merit-Demerit Scanning System and underground pneumatic recycling system is designed to suit the issues in increased in compact disc production. The purpose of this paper attempts to provide an understanding on the feasibility and operations of Merit-Demerit Compact Disc Recycling System. This system is divided in three categories that are disc, plastic and paper. The C++ programming and designs of Merit-Demerit Compact Disc Recycling which consists of separating and sorting operations and pneumatic refuse collection system are included. These designs aim to provide environmentally friendly recycling system features to publics.
