Abstract

The control system for the sterilization of oil palm fruits is designed not just to guarantee suitable sterilization but also to minimize the fluctuations in the overall steam demand, which could reduce the factory output. Here, the automation requirements of the sterilization process in palm oil mills and features provided by microprocessor-based systems are examined, before concluding with a brief description of a low-cost system that is currently under development.
