Abstract

The alkaloidal composition of the Malaysian Fissistigma manubriatum (Hk. f. et Th.) Merr (KL 4937, Mersing) has been carried out. The alkaloids were extracted from the stem bark with CH₂Cl₂ and the crude alkaloid mixtures were isolated using extensive chromatography (thin layer chromatography, TLC and column chromatography, CC). The structural elucidation of the purified alkaloids were carried out by spectroscopic methods: ID and 2D NMR, IR, UV and MS. Two oxoaporphines : lanuginosine 1, liriodenine 2 and two tetrahydroprotoberberines : tetrahydropalmatine 3 and discretine 4 have been identified.
