Dental School AbstractTraditional operative treatment of dental caries has many short comings, ranging from idiosyncratic treatment planning to the use of out-dated cavity designs. These and other factors rather easily contribute to a repeat restoration cycle with restorations themselves not lasting many years. There is a clear need to move towards a truely preventive form of caries management, with the dentist placing modern restorations in high quality conservative cavity preparations on a selective basis.
