Abstract

The purpose of this article is to provide the rationale regarding the need to alleviate the dichotomy between academic and vocational education. The article also proposes strategies for teachers to implement curriculum integration between academic and vocational subjects. The strategies include: (1) cooperative strategies, (2) curriculum strategies, (3) instructional strategies, (4) administration support, and (5) professional development. To reinforce the process of integration between academic and vocational education, several examples and suggestions are also given. Finally, the article also discusses the challenges faced by the integration process.


Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk memberikan rasional tentang keperluan merapatkan jurang perbezaan antara pendidikan akademik dan pendidikan vokasional. Artikel ini juga mencadangkan beberapa strategi yang boleh dilaksanakan oleh guru-guru akademik dan vokasional dalam merancang dan melaksanakan kurikulum integrasi. Beberapa strategi telah diperkenalkan seperti: (1) strategi koperatif, (2) strategi kurikulum, (3) strategi pengajaran, (4) sokongan pihak pentadbiran, dan (5) pembangunan profesionalisme. Beberapa contoh dan cadangan juga diberikan untuk merealisasikan proses pengintegrasian antara akademik dan vokasional. Akhir sekali, artikel ini juga membincangkan cabaran-cabaran yang dihadapi dalam melaksanakan strategi dan proses integrasi akademik dan vokasional.
