Dept. of Physics AbstractCrosstalk of dual channel system in an all-optical gain-clamped amplifier is investigated by dropping one of the channels to create add/drop scenarios. For conventional amplifiers, crosstalk values of 0.1 dB are observed without any gain-clamping techniques. These values are improved to 0.01 dB by utilizing all-optical gain-clamped amplifier where the architecture allows for a complete oscillating laser in the system. The feature of insensitivity to the number of channels makes the all-optical gain-clamped amplifier attractive to highly dynamic optical network where add/drop activities are unavoidable.
