Abstract

The quality of rice husk ash, which is produced using specially designed furnace at Universiti Kebangsaan is studied. By using appropriate combustion technique, high content of silica ash was able to be produced. The furnace was fabricated and improved based on the previous concept adopted by Universiti Sains Malaysia and Asian Institute of Technology. Investigation is done to determine the physical and chemical properties including temperature distribution, particle size, crystallization phase and chemical composition. It was found that the specially designed furnace was able to produce a high quality of rice husk ash.

kajian ini membincangkan tentang kualiti abu sekam yang dihasilkan melalui pembakaran abu sekam padi menggunakan relau terubahsuai UKM. Abu sekam padi yang kaya dengan kandungan silika dapat dihasilkan dengan teknik pembakaran yang betul. Usaha penghasilan abu sekam padi dilakukan di Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia menggunakan relau khas yang telah direkabentuk. Relau terubahsuai UKM diubahsuai daripada konsep relau pembakaran yang pernah digunakan oleh penyelidik-penyelidik lepas. Penyiasatan ke atas sifat fizikal dan kimia merangkumi taburan suhu pembakaran, fasa penghabluran dan kandungan kimia. Penyiasatan mendapati relau yang direka bentuk khas ini dapat menghasilkan kualiti abu sekam padi yang baik.
