Abstract

This paper discussses the challenges that the developing nations have to overcome with the phenomenon of globalization. The under developed and less developed nations viewed globalization as a threat because of the imbalances that they have in many aspects if they need to compete with the more developed nations. The views on the impact of globalization on education by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia were discussed in the article to show the critical need to review the relationship between the developed and the less developed nations. A critical review of Martin Carnoy's writing on the imbalances between the developed and less developed nations in facing the challenges of globalization was done to support Tun Mahathir view on the issue.
