AbstractThis article highlights the implementation of a quality assurance initiative by the government of Thailand for improving the quality of education at all levels of the education system, including the Private Islamic schools located mainly in the southern provinces of Thailand. Specifically, this article focuses on the preparatory measures taken by the Private Islamic schools in meeting the quality assurance standards from the students‘ development aspect as stipulated by the Ministry of Education of Thailand. The study sample comprised 393 committee members of the quality assurance task force from 120 Private Islamic schools. Using the survey method, the committee members were asked to assess and evaluate the degree of school readiness in fulfilling the Quality Standard of Students. In general, the study found that the degree of readiness of the Islamic schools was moderate and satisfactory even though this type of school faced far more numerous disadvantages as compared to government schools. In terms of relevance, Malaysian schools could adopt a similar quality assurance initiative to upgrade the quality of education. Repository Staff Only: item control page
