Abstract

A quasi-experimental study was conducted at four academic schools in Hulu Langat, Selangor. The objectives of the study were to determine the effectiveness of cooperative learning strategy in accounting subject towards students‘ performances and their perceptions towards the cooperative learning strategy. Five classes (n = 122) used cooperative learning strategy for eight weeks and four other equivalent classes (n = 86) were made the control group. A test was conducted before the experiment to obtain the covariate score. Students‘ performances were measured after the treatment. Students’ perceptions were obtained using open-ended questions. The findings of the study show that the students in the cooperative learning group have higher posttest scores compared to the control group. The implications of the study and suggestions for implementing cooperative learning strategy are also discussed.
