Dept. of Language Education and Humanities AbstractTeachers play a significant role in ensuring the success of the teaching and learning process. Usually teachers merely receive ready-made curriculum and thereafter deliver it to the students. If given the opportunity, definitely there are teachers who are more than willing to provide input regarding what should be taught in the classroom. This article attempts to identify teachers’ and students’ perceptions towards the appropriateness of the Adab and Akhlak Islam (AAI) component of Islamic Education in the Integrated Curriculum For Secondary Schools which was introduced in 2003. It presents the results of a survey involving Islamic Education teachers from Selangor. The random cluster sampling technique was used; altogether, 294 teachers and 462 students ranging from Form One to Form Five responded to the questionnaires. Data received were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program (SPSS). The findings show there are differences in the distribution of the sub-areas of learning AAI according to forms, between the teachers, students and the Ministry of Education. | Item Type: | Journal |
