Students who are in transition from concrete to formal thinking often interpret fractional representations in unintended ways. When children possess a solid understanding of fractional concepts, they can use this
knowledge to describe real world phenomena. In this article, the authors will discuss fractional concepts and meaning of fractional representations from several psychological perspectives as used in primary school mathematics.
