Abstract

Beck Depression Inventory (BD1) has become a commonly used instrument inmulticentre and International clinical trials to assess depression. Existing self-report measures of depression such as the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) hasbeen widely used In Western countries and therefore a translated version of theInstrument Is required for the assessment of the local population study since thestudy population In each country differ culturally and sociodemographically from one to another. The SDI developed by Beck & Steer In 1986 is a multidimensional tool and has been widely used In the studies of depression in many countries bothin the community based study as well as clinical studies. The 21-Item SDI Is simple,short, easy to administer and only requires less than 10 minutes to be filled In by respondents.
