The purpose of this study wasto asses the rate of high risk behaviours among IVDUs and to determine if therewould be any difference in these behaviours in those aware of their positive HIV status as compared to those aware of their negative status or status unknown. 162IVDU5 were Interviewed regarding high risk Injecting and sexual practices. Resultsshowed that 73.3% of (VDUs that were aware of their HIV positive status were still practicing high risk behaviours, as compared to 34.5% in the rest. In conclusion, thepractice of high risk behaviours Is rampant among IVDUs and knowledge of apositive HIV status does not appear to have a bearing in these behaviours. It appearsmore stringent interventions need to be implemented to curb the spread of HIV. Repository Staff Only: item control page
