Abstract

The study monitored the change in biomass and shift of nutrient status before and after harvesting the natural forest, followed by burning and replanting. It concluded that burning should be avoided to reduce nutrient loss and ensure better plantation growth. The loss of inorganic nutrients by harvesting different fractions of the tree biomass is discussed in relation to the losses from burning and leaching.
