Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies AbstractQuranic exegesis has developed extensively and contributed tremendously to the excellence of Islamic Civilization of the past. Andalusian scholars were among those who were successfully engaged in developing of the science. Most of them who lived during the glory of Andalusia had left their marks in the history of the science. Their treatises had become the sources and references even to the moment. The study attempts to expose the legacy of these scholars and their contributions to the science. The focus of the study revolves around the background and the circumstances of the milieu. It reveals the role of Andalusia in producing a large number of excellent scholars who endeavoured to understand the meaning of the words of Allah the Qur’an. The sources of the study are the earlier treatises (turath) on Quranic exegesis and recent works by contemporary scholars. The study discovers that the development of the various disciplines of science marked the contribution of the intellectuals of the Andalusian period. A conclusion can be drawn that Andalusia had a great impact on the development of the science of Quranic exegesis. Repository Staff Only: item control page
