Three sampling locations were selected for this study i.e the amang effluent discharge point (P1), amang processing pond (P2) and Sg. Kampar (P3) which is located beside the amang processing pond. The water quality parameters investigated were physical , inorganic chemical, organic chemical, Cu, Pb and Zn trace metals and natural radioactivity. Result of water quality index (WQI) showed that the water in the closed water system (P1) and in the amang processing pond (P2) was polluted with the WQI of < 59 compared to Sungai Kampar sampling location (P3) which was slightly polluted with the WQI of 60 – 80. The study also showed that the concentration of 232Th and 238U in the sediment from P1, P2 and P3 sampling locations were 30.12 ± 0.30 mg/kg and 6.89 ± 0.14 mg/kg; 60.63 ± 0.61 mg/kg and 15.16 ± 0.30 mg/kg; 3.90 ± 0.16 mg/kg and 0.87 ± 0.05 mg/kg respectively. Whreas the 232Th and 238U concentration in water from P1, P2 and P3 sampling locations were found to be 8.47 ± 0.24 mg/kg and 8.68 ± 0.38 mg/kg ; 7.86 ± 0.03 mg/kg and 8.68 ± 0.38 mg/kg; 7.86 ± 0.03 mg/kg and 8.42 ± 0.38 mg/kg respectively. The highest Cu, Pb and Zn concentration at P2 were 5.78 mg/kg, 39.50 mg/kg and 4.26 mg/kg respectively.in comparison the highest concentration of Cu, Pb and Zn at P1 and P3 were 1.19 mg/kg, 28.92 mg/kg, 2.87 mg/kg and 0.36 mg/kg, 1.55 mg/kg, 2.46 mg/kg respectively. Therefore result of this study has shown that there is relation between the radiological impact and the concentration of heavy metal with the sampling location i.e the closer the source of effluent (discharge) the higher the impact.
Kajian impak efluen amang ke atas sistem pengairan tertutup sebuah kilang pemprosesan amang di Kampar, Perak Darul Ridzuan telah dijalankan. Sebanyak tiga lokasi telah dipilih untuk kajian, iaitu punca buangan efluen pemprosesan amang (P1), kolam takungan efluen pemprosesan amang (P2) dan Sungai Kampar yang berada bersebelahan dengan kolam takungan efluen amang (P3). Parameter kualiti air yang dikaji terdiri daripada parameter fizikal, kimia bukan organik, kandungan unsur Cu, Pb dan Zn serta radionuklid tabii. Hasil penentuan indek kualiti air (IKA) menunjukkan bahawa kualiti air pada saluran efluen (P1) dan kolam takungan efluen (P2) adalah tercemar dengan IKA < 59 berbanding dengan lokasi persampelan Sungai Kampar (P3) yang didapati sedikit tercemar dengan nilai IKA 60 – 80. Kajian mendapati kepekatan 232Th dan 238U dalam sedimen pada lokasi persampelan P1, P2 dan P3 adalah masing-masing 30.12 ± 0.30 mg/kg dan 6.89 ± 0.14 mg/kg; 60.63 ± 0.61 mg/kg dan 15.16 ± 0.30 mg/kg; 3.90 ± 0.16 mg/kg dan 0.87 ± 0.05 mg/kg. Sementara itu kandungan tertinggi Cu, Pb dan Zn pada lokasi P2 masing-masing didapati bernilai 5.78 mg/kg, 39.50 mg/kg dan 4.26 mg/kg. Manakala kepekatan tertinggi Cu, Pb dan Zn pada lokasi P1 dan P3 pula masing-masing didapati bernilai 1.19 mg/kg, 28.92 mg/kg dan 2.87 mg/kg serta 0.36 mg/kg, 1.55 mg/kg dan 2.46 mg/kg. Keputusan kajian ini menunjukkan terdapat kaitan antara impak radiologi dan kepekatan logam berat dengan lokasi persampelan i.e semakin dekat dengan sumber efluen amang maka semakin ketara kesannya. | Item Type: | Journal |
