Doping Control Centre title: Identification and Confirmatory Method for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) using HPLC/MS/MS Analysis ispublished: pub subjects: Q subjects: R full_text_status: none keywords: Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, Tandem mass spectrometry abstract: As a consequence of the abused of human chorionic gonadotropin αhCG) by male athletes, a reliable detection method for βhCG is highly desired in sport testing. hCG is misused by male athletes to stimulate endogenous secretion of testosterone, which led to the ban of the hormone by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1987. The present study demonstrated mass spectrometric characterization of hCG. The feasibility of tryptic peptides of hCG as marker were investigated. The fingerprints of peptides which reveal in their amino acid sequences were obtained to provide an unequivocal identification and confirmation of hCG. It is through this technique that 63% and 91% respectively of the amino acid sequence of alpha- and beta-subunit of hCG were determined. date: 2005 date_type: published publication: Malaysian Journal of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology volume: 12 number: 1 publisher: Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology pagerange: 25-30 refereed: TRUE issn: ISSN 1511-2616 official_url: http://ejum.fsktm.um.edu.my/ArticleInformation.aspx?ArticleID=608 referencetext: 1.
