All treatments induced the accumulation of two mRNA transcripts of 1.26 and 1.45 kb. The expression was detected as early as after 12 h in methyl jasmonate and salicylic acid treated leaves. Whereas, in abscisic acid treated leaves, the signal was seen after 24 h. The 1.45 kb transcript accumulated at higher level in abscisic acid and salicylic acid treated leaves, while in methyl jasmonate treated leaves the level of both transcripts were almost similar. Interestingly, accumulation of the transcripts in abscisic acid and methyl jasmonate treated leaves follow the same pattern, with the maximum level of expression was seen after 24 h. Induction of extA expression by these compounds has led to the suggestion that extA may play an important role in plant defense system</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">Q Science, Computer Science</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">R Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2005</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Journal</mods:genre></mods:mods>
