        <dc:description>Activation of human GM-CSF receptor ectopically expressed in polyclonal murine FDCP-Mix multipotent cells, stimulate selfrenewal or myeloid differentiation. Bioinformatic analysis revealed a potentially important tripeptide region in the α-subunits cytosolic domain. Mutation of hGM-CSF receptor α-subunit (hGM-CSFRα) involving the respective tripeptides altered the receptor function compared to the wild type receptor. The mutated hGM-CSFRα clonal cells signaled for self-renewal whilst the wild type receptor produce cell differentiations in the presence of hGM-CSF cytokines. These results showed that cytosolic region of the α-subunit was critically important for developmental decision in multipotent cell, indicating that signaling specificity for cell fate resides in the receptor’s structure.</dc:description>
