Bioinformatic analysis revealed a potentially important tripeptide region in the ?-subunits cytosolic domain. Mutation of hGM-CSF receptor ?-subunit (hGM-CSFR?) involving the respective tripeptides altered the receptor function compared to the wild type receptor. The mutated hGM-CSFR? clonal cells signaled for self-renewal whilst the wild type receptor produce cell differentiations in the presence of hGM-CSF cytokines. These results showed that cytosolic region of the ?-subunit was critically important for developmental decision in multipotent cell, indicating that signaling specificity for cell fate resides in the receptor?s structure. %N 1 %K GM-CSF receptor, multipotent cells, differentiation %P 6-12 %V 11 %D 2005 %I Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology %L myais2266
