http://myais.fsktm.um.edu.my/44/ Pengajian Kesusasteraan Melayu Baru [Studies on modern Malay literature] Hanafi Dollah, P Language and Literature Explores the development of modern Malay literature as a field of study in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Initially the courses on offer cover literary themes such as prose genre, authors, literary theory and criticism, comparative and creative writing. The major part of the programme are Malay language and classical Malay literature. The fomer Depatment of Malay Letters was expanded to become the School of Malay Language, Literature and Culture. The paper proposes the need for newer courses to cater for the development of modern Malay literature over the last 35 years as envisioned by Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas.
