        abstract = {Communicative Arabic or Bahasa Arab Komunikasi (BAK) and Upper Level Arabic or Bahasa Arab Tinggi (BAT) subjects are taught in selected secondary schools, namely the religious secondary schools and Arabic schools in Malaysia. The curricula of these two subjects underwent review in 2000 to accommodate the current needs of the Ministry of Education. This article discusses the rationale behind revision of the syllabus of BAK and BAT. It also explains the major changes in the content of the revised syllabus for both subjects.}
